Advent, Day 19: Nautica Holiday Shoot

Dear readers,
The Maine for an adventure a day, each day of this advent season — big or small, by land or sea, with friends or solo, in image or word, exuberant or contemplative, real or conceptual. We live in a state of wonder, its wide open spaces anticipating our
hope and joy.

Try shooting a Christmas commercial on the hottest day of the summer. Even in Maine this turns out to be an adventure. During the last week of this past June our state experienced record highs, breaking 90 degrees in Bar Harbor where a crew from Nautica was dressing their models in layers of fleece and wool, stuffing Christmas stockings, and creating fake snow. I worked as a props assistant. Friends Brad and Adam were cast as themselves – lobstermen with a cameo at the :08 second mark. Thorfinn Expeditions founder and SUPer extrodinair also appears as himself 11 seconds in. Here are a couple behind-the-scenes shots and the final result.

(Note the fan – it was hot with all the lights!)
