Racing The Ferry

Two years ago Shannon proposed we swim from Lincolnville to Islesboro. With George in a sailboat setting our course, and Jim in a kayak for extra support we accomplished the swim on a miraculously calm morning on Penobscot Bay. In the photo above Shannon and I are racing the ferry.
This morning nearly 40 swimmers and their individual paddle support launched from Ducktrap Beach for this same three mile swim across the bay in very chilly waters. All swimmers made it safely and $20,000 was raised for Lifeflight of Maine. Congratulations to all!

Wow, that is astounding! Congratulations indeed!
Thanks, Karen. It was quite the adventure! Truly an unforgettable crossing. We are both so grateful for the experience!
Maybe we’ll swim to Mount Desert Island next!
